Greg Stocks Wall Art

Greg Stocks (Born in 1963) was born into a military family in Lubbock, Texas. The third of four children, he lived in Idaho and Texas, California by the age of eight, when his father was killed in a plane crash. His father was an Air Force fighter pilot. His family eventually settled in Idaho to be near the rest of the family. He began doing his own drawings of motorcycles and hot rods as well as copying his favorite cartoon characters. Some of Stocks’ earliest memories are of drawings of motorcycles and cars by his older brother. His family was very supportive of his pursuits and throughout high school he immersed himself in art and music.

Stock developed a love of drawing and soon discovered an affinity for studying piano, music, guitar and drums. In his senior year he contributed illustrations for the yearbook which made him to win the Memorial Jazz Music Award of the school. In 1981, he moved to Utah and attended Utah State University. He had no declared major; he enrolled in a basic design course for non-art majors. However, the professor took notice of his natural abilities and encouraged him to take more art classes. Stock enrolled in the foundation program in the art department at the university. Upon graduation, he went back to Utah State University where he studied illustration. Stock graduated with a degree in commercial art, two years later, and, by this time, having a baby and a wife, he couldn’t do without employment. He worked in several companies but kept on drawing and painting. Finally, in 1988, the owner of a gallery gave him a show, and the rest is history.
