Jean Paul Wall Art

Jean Paul (Born 1923) was a sculptor and painter from Quebec, Canada. Paul became the first painter in Canada to attain widespread international recognition (since James Wilson Morrice). He was born in Montreal, and he began drawing lessons at the age of 10 and continued through until he was 15 years old. He studied architecture, engineering and photography at the polytechnic in 1941. Just a year later, he enrolled at the Montreal School of Fine Arts but shifted his studies to the less academic School of Meuble from where he graduated in 1945. In the 1940s, Paul studied under Paul-Émile Borduas and was a member of The Automatists movement. He broke up with traditional conventions in 1945 after reading André Breton's Surrealism and Painting, and he began experimenting with non-representational (or non-objective) painting. His art is a moment for remembrance.

He said that time is fast and people live life quickly, so he liked to preserve our time on this world. He liked networking and had a large network of loyal fans from all over the world and this network has been expanding over the years as more and more people get to discover his art. Paul was one of the people who signed the Refus global manifesto, an anti-religious and anti-establishment manifesto released in 1948 on August 9, in Montreal by a group of 16 young artists from Québec and intellectuals that included Jean Paul and Paul-Émile Borduas. In 1947 Paul moved to Paris where he continued his career as an artist.
