Dr. Jeremy Paul Wall Art

Dr. Jeremy Paul (Born 1954) was born in Accrington, Lancashire, UK. Before becoming a professional Wildlife Artist, he had a successful career in marine biology. He received a Doctorate for research after which he went to work and live in Spain. He also worked and lived in some of the remote and most beautiful areas of the British Isles, mostly the west coast of Scotland. This was his first experience of abundant wildlife and true wilderness and it was here that he started painting seriously. Around 1980s he was now a leading authority on cultivation of shellfish and was put in charge of a busy research and development program based in the Scottish Highlands. During this time his career in art developed in leaps. Even though a completely self-taught artist, his art has marveled many viewers including his fellow artists.

He works in acrylics and develops the painting in many layers of paint with careful and extensive use of glazes and under-painting to alter the atmosphere and tone of the work. His aim as a wildlife artist is not merely to illustrate, Paul wants to impart the feel and the atmosphere of the setting of wildlife in its natural environment so that viewers who have never seen the animal physically may feel that they have actually seen them. The artist spends many hours in the field observing wildlife and looking for lighting and settings to inspire an idea for a painting. His greatest excitement so far has been being in the wild following tigers and helping raise funds for their conservation through his paintings.
